Brit Grit With A Heart

New Brit-flick Shifty hits our shores (well, technically it never left) later this month, offering a fresh (well, sort-of) vision of UK life.

Whilst the film presents a somewhat stereotypical gritty view (as audiences will be all too familiar with from the efforts of Richie and his companion Vaughn) of what it's like to be a Lundenerrrrr, it manages to retain some soul through the relationship of its two main protagonists, Chris and the eponymous Shifty.

Its mix of the rough with the smooth suprisingly works, in what turns out to be a refreshing depiction of East London life. Read the review HERE when made available...

Watch the trailer HERE for now.

Another Day, Another Slasher Movie

This one sure is an advert for anti-bullying, if ever I saw one...

Same old story, review posted HERE as soon as it can be made available to thespinningimage.co.uk

No trailer as of yet, I'm afraid...

It seems I'm not the only one...

The beeb highlights exactly the point I raised in my last review for thespinningimage.co.uk...

Appallingly bad.

The Ups And The Downs

Sure, there are perks to my new 'job' as reviewer for The Spinning Image... I mean I get to see a few free films a week, do a spot of schmoozing (or mostly sitting alone, like the rest of these seemingly shy/rude critics) and then write up MY opinion. Great. Not so, when it's a none too great film that wings its way to my inbox.

Okay, so as a bit (slight understatement as my friends/colleagues will know) of a feminist the clue was in the title that I wasn't going to be a great fan of this weeks movie: Lesbian Vampire Killers. However, with Gav-a-lar and Smiffy (from the wonderful Gavin & Stacey) in on the action, it couldn't be that bad, could it?

See for yourself, when I post the review up HERE as soon as I am granted permission!

Meanwhile, take a look at the trailer HERE.

Watch Every Move

I've just posted another review on The Spinning Image. Decided that it would be best from now on to post my reviews on the website alone, leaving the blog as the place for general musings. It also means that it encourages any of my followers to look at who I'm working for, whilst giving them a little publicity too. Fair's fair.

I've just written up a review of Surveillance, a new film from David Lynch's daughter. Now before you all dismiss her, take a look at the review HERE... It was a pretty good movie. Not for the meek and mild, however.

See the trailer HERE if it takes your fancy a little look-see.
